Recent Weddings and Engagement Sessions
The rain clouds stayed away, the sun shone through, and Lindsay and Eric had the most beautiful and thoughtful wedding, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Lindsay and Eric chose to get married at their home church, Grace Community Church in Pitt Meadows, and it was an honour to be there with them as they shared vows with one another!
What’s not to love about a location closer to the water, next to a forest, and minutes away from an ice cream shop, when you’re choosing your wedding venue? Michelle and Colin made the best decision in choosing the Rocky Point performance stage as the venue of choice for their May long-weekend wedding. Little did they know, it’d would be the perfect outdoor-but-covered spot for what turned out to be a super romantic rainy Vancouver wedding!
Allie and Doug first met at the coffee shop that Doug worked at for a few years in downtown Vancouver. There was life music playing every Friday night, and Allie had come in to see an artist she was a fan of. Doug remembers her order: a Raspberry White Chocolate cheesecake and a hot chocolate (yum!). They talked a bit while she ordered, but it was nothing beyond the usual chatter between a customer and a barista. Doug felt something special, and knew he had to do something, so into the back of the cafe he went, writing down his phone number on a note before passing it off to Allie.
It was a beautiful Saturday morning, around 25 degrees and partly sunny, when I pulled up to the EagleQuest Coyote Creek Golf Course in Surrey for Emily and Leo’s wedding. I was looking forward to seeing them again, especially after our video chat a few days prior where we finished up a few details for their wedding timeline. Emily and Leo’s wedding day was beautiful from start to finish…read more to see how the day went along!
Sometimes, things are just meant to be. Elizabeth and Chris both met while studying in the same class while pursuing higher education at the University of British Columbia, and a first date here, and some more dates later, Chris popped the question, and the rest is history! These two sure know how to make each other smile, reassure the other that everything will be OK with just a slight squeeze of their hand, and aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves just a bit here and there!
When it comes to engagement photos, there are SO MANY PLACES to choose from, especially for those of us who live in the Vancouver area. We’re surrounded by beauty everywhere we look! I love asking my couples to think of a few places that are sentimental to them, whether it be the place that they got engaged, a favourite park of theirs, or a spot they’ve wanted to visit, but just haven’t yet! And if you don’t know where to go after answering those questions, maybe this list will help you find that spot!
Angel and Tim had both studied at Simon Fraser University, and attend a church service that happens on campus every Sunday, so the natural choice for them as SFU alumni was to get married at the gorgeous Diamond Alumni Centre, a building that overlooks the Barnet Marine park area with views of the North Shore mountains. It was beautiful! They got married in the Fraser Room downstairs, which is naturally lit with floor to ceiling widows on the North side, allowing for more than 100 guests to enjoy the special day with you. (Pro-tip…f you’re SFU alumni, apparently there’s a great deal to be had here!).
After your partner pops the question, once the ring hits your knuckle and the tears have cleared, you may be feeling tons of feelings, primarily excitement but very likely a hint of anxiety underlying it all, too. If you do get a kick of panic as soon as reality sets in, don’t worry—, it just means going from just-dating to just-got-engaged, wedding-planning, bride - or groom-to-be in a matter of seconds is a shock to the system! And that’s ok, I felt those things too! That’s where this list can help!
Emily and Leo met in 2014, when Emily’s family was visiting a church they had gone to a few years ago. Leo’s father was becoming the lead pastor, and Emily’s dad was going to support him with translation. Emily and Leo became friends right away, and Emily says she knew that she wanted to marry him as soon as she saw him! 6 months after they met, they made it official and started dating. In December of 2017, they went to a local Christmas lights show, enjoyed a dinner together, and Leo made sure to end the night off in the best way possible by asking Emily to marry him! She said yes!
It was Thanksgiving 2017 when Lindsay and Eric met in person after finding each other online. You never know where you’ll find love! Thanks Tinder! Lindsay had come across Eric’s profile, and swiped right. A few hours later she got a notification. "You've been SuperLiked by Eric!". They chatted for a bit, and Eric eventually asked her out for coffee and they settled on Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam. Lindsay was really glad she said yes when she saw him walk up to her…he was “so handsome”! They got coffee, walked around the lake and visited the nearby mall, and what was supposed to be a 1.5 hr "get to know you" turned into a full blown 8 hour date. A few long dates later, they got engaged in November 2018, and are now getting ready for their wedding in June!
