What’s not to love about a location close to the water, next to a forest, and minutes away from an ice cream shop when you’re choosing your wedding venue? Michelle and Colin made the best decision in choosing the Rocky Point performance stage as the venue of choice for their May long-weekend wedding. Little did they know it would be the perfect outdoor-but-covered spot for what turned out to be a super romantic rainy Vancouver wedding!
Michelle and her squad got ready at her childhood home in Coquitlam and she was not going to let the raindrops falling down outside stop her from having the best day of her life. She and her bridesmaids set up an area on her parents’ deck and her fantastic hair and makeup artists did an awesome job with everyone! I arrived a few hours prior to when the ceremony was set to begin, and started to get photos of some of her wedding day details before saying “hi again” to Michelle! She was so excited to get married! My 2nd shooter for the day stayed with Michelle while I drove over to the Inn At The Quay where Colin was getting ready with his side of the wedding party.

Rocky Point Ceremony
Everyone was all smiles as they arrived at the ceremony, even with all the rain coming down! I knew it would make for some magical photos! Michelle arrived minutes later with her father walking her down the aisle and the ceremony was just beautiful. I loved the vows Michelle and Colin shared… you could tell they meant so much to the other person. After the signing of the registry, they were pronounced husband and wife!
Rainy Day Wedding Photos
What do you do when it rains on your wedding day? Hire a photographer who has a ton of clear umbrellas! I had prepped for this and we were ready! The wedding party was down for anything, and so we stuck around the park for a few minutes finding shelter here and there, and braving the light rain for a few dramatic photos. They were all champs, and we had so much fun!
Centennial Lodge Wedding Reception
Just before Michelle and Colin were to enter their reception, I had the idea of getting a few photos of them dancing or standing in the rain. I’m so glad they trusted me… we got the most amazing portraits of the two of them, and we were done in 3 minutes!
The lodge is a beautiful intimate building, and I love the natural light that comes in through the floor to ceiling windows on the one side. The reception was full of their closest friends and families, and everything from the sideshow, delicious food, fun custom decorations, photo-booth and the speeches was just so wonderful! The evening lasted into the night with the DJ turning up the music, and everyone was on the dance floor!
To Michelle and Colin:
Thank you for entrusting me with capturing your most important day in photos! It’s been a joy getting to know you two, and I wish you both nothing but the best in your future! Keep on making each other smile and laugh! Love you guys!
